Riley Meredith’s domestic career began with his List A debut for Cricket Australia XI in 2017. He progressed to first-class cricket with Tasmania in the 2017–18 Sheffield Shield season. His Twenty20 debut followed shortly after, representing the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017–18 Big Bash League (BBL) in 2018. His performances in the BBL, particularly his ability to deliver at speeds exceeding 150 km/h, garnered attention and highlighted his potential as a fast bowler.
Meredith’s international debut came in the T20I format against New Zealand on March 3, 2021. He showcased his wicket-taking ability by claiming figures of 2/24. His One Day International (ODI) debut occurred on July 22, 2021, against the West Indies. In August 2024, he was recalled to the Australian squad for the T20I series against Scotland, underscoring his continued relevance in the national setup.
A significant chapter in Meredith’s career unfolded with Somerset County Cricket Club. In May 2024, he signed with Somerset to play across all formats. During the Vitality Blast, he featured in 12 matches, claiming 14 wickets at an average of 22.78, with a standout performance of four for 12. His contributions were instrumental in Somerset’s journey to the finals. Additionally, in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, he played three matches, securing six wickets at an average of 21.33, with a best of four for 27. His impressive performances during this stint earned him a recall to the Australian national side.
