VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Ahead of the match, Somerset Metro Bank One Day Cup Head Coach, Paul Tweddle said: “I’m ecstatic for the lads who have been involved because I think that they deserve the opportunity,” he said. “They’ve played some really good cricket and it’s been nice to be able to have seen them grow with the competition over a few years. Now it’s great to be in a position where we have the opportunity to win it.

“It’s been amazing to see the growth in the individuals, and being able to largely keep the squad together through that time and watch their development has been brilliant.

“I couldn’t be prouder that we have gone on this journey together. The staff who have been involved have been amazing and have offered so much support over the last few years.

“As a coach you hang your hat on developing people, developing  players and getting them better. Getting to a final is an example of their development over a number of years.

“I feel a huge amount of pride to have been able to take this group on their journey and to now be in with a chance of winning some silverware.”

CLASSIC MATCH

We go back to 2018 for the classic match between the two sides.

Somerset and Glamorgan met at the Cooper Associates County Ground in the Royal London One-Day Cup in May of that year.

The home side were victorious by 83 runs thanks in no small part to a stunning innings of 159 by James Hildreth.

Glamorgan Captain, Colin Ingram won the toss and invited Somerset to bat.

The home side slipped to 49 for two, but Hildreth and Peter Trego (56) added 98 for the third wicket.

Hildreth went on to make what was at the time Somerset’s sixth highest ever score in List A cricket as the hosts finished on 372 for seven from their 50 overs. Tom Abell also impressed with 40 from 25 balls.

The visitors also lost two early wickets but 85 from Ingram kept them in the game.

Marchant de Lange made a brutal 40 from 28 balls but when he fell to Roelof van der Merwe Glamorgan were all out for 289 from 46 overs.
