Second XI T20: Somerset beat Gloucestershire by 10 wickets

Somerset beat Gloucestershire by 10 wickets in the Second XI T20 competition at Rockhampton CC today.

Somerset won the toss, elected to bowl and made an early breakthrough when Kamran Dhariwal (13) was caught by Archie Vaughan off the bowling of Alfie Ogborne in the third over.

By the end of the six-over powerplay, Gloucestershire were 39 for one. However, just two balls into the seventh over, Tommy Boorman fell for nine to James Theedom, Ogborne this time taking the catch.

James Bracey was dismissed for 12 in the eighth over and all of a sudden, the hosts were 43 for three. That soon became 44 for four when James Matravers was caught behind off Josh Thomas.

By the halfway stage, Gloucestershire were 55 for four.

Joe Phillips and Max Dunne added 26 for the fifth wicket but they both departed within the space of nine balls to leave Gloucestershire on 72 for six in the 14th over.

Ed Middleton top scored with 28 not out from 24 balls but wickets continued to fall and the hosts finished on 116 for eight.

Somerset made light work of the run chase as Thomas (50 not out from 35 balls) and Seb Linnitt (58 from 45) reached the required target in the 14th over.
