
Second XI Championship: Somerset v Derbyshire – Day Three
Somerset take on Derbyshire in the Second XI County Championship at Taunton Vale Sports Club this week.
Somerset won the toss and elected to field.
DAY THREE
Somerset were due to resume on 144 for five on day three, trailing by 142. Unfortunately, no play was possible on Wednesday due to rain.
DAY TWO
Derbyshire resumed on 239 for eight but were eventually dismissed for 286.
Somerset slipped to one for two in the third over, but Bryce Street (33) and Josh Thomas added 96 for the third wicket to get their side back on track.
Thomas went on to make 77 as Somerset reached 144 for five by the close of play, trailing by 142.
DAY ONE
Derbyshire openers Aneurin Donald and Will Tarrant shared an opening stand of 28 before the former was caught by Theo Lamey off the bowling of James Theedom.
The Visitors 50 arrived in the 12th over but rain meant that an early lunch was taken with the scoreboard showing 61 for one.
Savin Perera was caught by Ben Church to give Zach Vukusic a wicket at 67 for two before further rain fell with the score on 71 for two.
One run had been added to the total when Tarrant was bowled by Vukusic for 34.
Yousaf Bin Naeem and Amrit Basra added 68 for the fourth wicket before the latter was caught behind off Lamey for 39.
Further rain drove the players from the field with Derbyshire on 157 for four resulting in tea being taken.
After the break, Bin Naeem was bowled by Vukusic for 37 for the addition of just one further run to the total, and when Ajay Khunti was dismissed for 10 the visitors were 161 for six.
Another rain break was required at 181 for six but when the players returned Nick Potts fell to the first ball, bowled by Archie Vaughan caught by Josh Thomas.
The Derbyshire 200 arrived in the 51st over and by the close of play the visitors had reached 239 for eight, Zak Kelly bowled by Vaughan for 23.
