Somerset sign Ruby Davis on short-term deal

Somerset County Cricket Club have signed Ruby Davis from the SCCC Academy on a short-term contract.

The 20-year-old joins up with the squad in time for the Vitality Blast fixture against Durham tomorrow (Friday July 4th) and she will be available for selection until July 16th.

The right-handed top-order batter, who is a product of the Devon Pathway, is looking forward to joining up with the squad. “I’m excited to be spending time around the playing squad,” she said. “It’s my first time in the environment, so I’m looking forward to experiencing how everything works. I’ve worked hard to get to this point and it’s an exciting time for me.

“I’m really happy to be making my way into the First Team set up and I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out.”

Somerset Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is looking forward to welcoming Ruby into the squad. “Ruby is someone who we’ve been aware of for a couple of years,” he said. “Jack Bradbury (Somerset Girls Academy Lead) has been impressed by her performances for the Academy, and she’s also been successfully captaining Loughborough University.

“Ruby joined us for the recent friendly against Essex and I liked the way that she went about things. She gives us additional batting options at a time when we have a few players unavailable, and we’re excited to see what she can offer at this level.”
