Olivia, Jess and Erin Agree Short-Term Loan Moves
Somerset’s Olivia Barnes, Jess Hazell and Erin Vukusic will each spend time on loan, dual registered with other counties over the coming weeks.
Left-arm spinner, Barnes, will join Kent, with wicketkeeper/batter Hazell linking up with Gloucestershire whilst right-arm seamer, Vukusic will represent Glamorgan.
Hazell and Vukusic are both products of the Western Storm Academy, progressing through the Somerset and Devon pathways respectively, while Barnes returns to her home county of Kent.
Barnes and Hazell will be available for selection for their loan clubs for the first round of Metro Bank One Day Cup League Two fixtures up until May 15th whilst Vukusic is initially available to Glamorgan for this weekend’s fixture only.
All three players will remain available for Somerset selection throughout this period, with the short-term agreements providing the players with additional opportunities to play competitive cricket in the early part of the season.
Regarding the deals, Somerset Women’s Head Coach, Trevor Griffin, said: “This is a great opportunity for Liv, Jess and Erin to get more game time ahead of a busy summer. We’re committed to supporting their development, and these loan spells will give them valuable experience and opportunity in different environments to demonstrate their potential while still being available for selection and part of our plans at Somerset.”
