THE OPPOSITION

Captain: Georgia Davis

Head Coach: Ali Maiden

The big question: There is a tangible excitement around Edgbaston at the full integration of the women’s team into the county set up. Now can the players deal with the element of pressure that comes with expectation – and serious investment by the club – and deliver success?

Player to watch: Georgia Davis. Off-spinner Davis has thoroughly vindicated her decision to quit the police for full-time cricket by rising into the England set-up. Just back from an England A tour to Australia, Birmingham-born Davis will be looking to captain her beloved Warwickshire to success and pile up wickets to advance her international career.

Young gun: Davina Perrin. Warwickshire will look to 18-year-old Perrin for big runs at the top of the order. The Wolverhampton-born batter is an exciting stroke-player and will take confidence from her productive England U19s World Cup campaign in Malaysia in January which earned her a late call up for the A Tour to Australia.

Squad: Georgia Davis (Captain), Meg Austin, Em Arlott, Chloe Brewer, Hannah Baker, Bethan Ellis, Abbey Freeborn, Katie George, Hannah Hardwick, Charis Pavely, Davina Perrin, Amu Surenkumar, Millie Taylor, Issy Wong, Nat Wraith.

TEAM NEWS

Somerset are without Heather Knight and Charlie Dean, whilst Emma Corney and Amelie Munday are both recovering from knee surgery.

A starting XI will be named from the following squad:

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Ahead of the match, Head Coach, Trevor Griffin said: “We’re really clear about what we need to do and the way that we’ve prepared this week is very much with that in mind. It’s easy to get hung up on what’s happening in the other games, but we just need to play our best cricket and win the game and hopefully secure that all important bonus point.

“There’s some real excitement in the dressing room. A number of the players have experienced the sort of pressure that comes with battling for a place in a semi final, but many of the squad will be experiencing something like this for the first time. It’s exciting to be going into the final group game with something to play for.

“Hopefully, it will be a great day for the Club with the Men winning the Blast and the Women making the semi finals of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.”
