“I’ve definitely enjoyed it!” – Erin reflects on year one

Erin Vukusic has just completed her first season as a full-time professional cricketer with Somerset.

The 19-year-old grew up playing through the Devon CCC age groups before making her senior debut in 2021 representing Devon in the ECB County Championship.

During the 2025 season, the right-arm fast-medium bowler appeared in seven T20 matches in which she bowled 24 overs and claimed seven wickets at an average of 28.71 with a best of two for 28 against The Blaze. Her first wicket in the Vitality Blast competition was that of Australian superstar Ellyse Perry.

Reflecting on her first full season, the Croatia international said: “It’s been really exciting for me to have had my first season as a full-time professional cricketer and I’ve definitely enjoyed it! All of the girls have been so friendly and helped me to settle in as well.

“I didn’t quite know what I was expecting at the start and at first it was a bit of a shock but I feel that I settled into it well. The summer was quite full on and it was really good to be part of the squad.”

How did Erin find the step up to playing for Somerset?

“I think the games for the Somerset Academy helped and so did the warm up games with Somerset Seniors. Even playing amongst ourselves gave us an idea of what to expect. It was quite a step up but it was good.

“I had a good run in the Vitality Blast and feel that T20 was a place for me to get a taste and it gave me a look in.”

What are Erin’s plans for this winter?

“I went away last winter just before Christmas but this year I think I want to have time back here at home. I’m going to give time to the things that I want to work on and get to know the new Head Coach when they arrive.

“Having had the summer and knowing how I felt at the end of it, I just want to get stronger. I need to work a bit on my strength and introduce some new things. I want to get a bit quicker and improve my batting as well.”

In addition to playing for Somerset, Erin also played for Exeter Women’s team and for her local men’s team at Thorverton, where she started her cricketing journey.
