Bex signs contract extension

Somerset CCC are pleased to be able to announce that Bex Odgers has signed a contract extension.

The 22-year-old signed a one-year rookie contract ahead of the current season and her performances have been rewarded with a new deal until at least the end of the 2027 campaign.

Bex has featured in 10 matches for Somerset this season across the three competitions, scoring 244 runs with a best of 60 against Durham in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The wicket keeper/batter played her way through the Cornwall Pathway system before making her County debut in 2018. She joined Western Storm’s South West Regional Development Centre ahead of the 2019 season and represented England Academy that summer. She also made her first appearance for Somerset Women in July of that year.

The University of Exeter student, who hails from St Austell, made her Storm debut in 2023.

After signing her new contract, Bex said: “I’m really excited. I’ve worked really hard for a long time in order to achieve this so I’m looking forward to the next few years.

“It was a bit of a dream come true to start off so well, and I couldn’t have wished for much more so far in this debut season.

“Playing for Somerset is amazing because it’s the Club I’ve supported since childhood, and to be able to take to the field and represent the whole of the South West is a real honour.”

Somerset Women Head Coach, Trevor Griffin said: “Bex had to be patient at the start of the season but once she was given her opportunity, she grasped it with both hands. She is a technically strong batter who has the ability to significantly impact games at the top of the order and we’ve seen that already this summer.

“It’s been exciting to see her demonstrate her skills in the professional arena for the first time, and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits of her continued development and progression.”

Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “We knew Bex had the potential to thrive at this level, and it’s been really pleasing to see both the impact that she’s made at the top of the order and her seamless transition into the professional arena.

“Her ability to strike the ball with genuine power adds a real dimension to her game, and we’re thrilled that she’ll be continuing her journey with us for the foreseeable future.”
