Who’s playing where this winter?

With the distinctly un-cricket weather now closing in, it’s time to start wrapping up warm and dusting off those umbrellas. Not so for several of the Somerset squad!

A number of players will be plying their trade abroad this winter and you can keep up to date with everything that they are getting up to on the field via this website.

Club Captain, TOM ABELL will be heading for South Africa in the New Year to play in the 2024 edition of the SA20, South Africa’s T20 franchise competition. He has been selected by Sunrisers Eastern Cape alongside Somerset teammate, CRAIG OVERTON.

TOM BANTON will also play in the tournament, which runs from January 10th to February 10th, after being picked by MI Cape Town.

Somerset players have also been picked to play in the 2024 ILT20 which will be held in the UAE from January 19th to February 18th.

Vitality Blast Captain, LEWIS GREGORY and TOM KOHLER-CADMORE will feature for Sharjah Warriors.

WILL SMEED will also feature in the tournament after being selected by MI Emirates.

ROELOF VAN DER MERWE, who is currently representing the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup, is another Somerset player who will appear in the ILT20 after he was picked to play for Dubai Capitals.

Elsewhere, GEORGE THOMAS will be heading for Australia to play for Fremantle this winter.
