Two more years for Dani
England all-rounder, Dani Gibson has signed a two-year contract extension which will see her remain at the Cooper Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2028 season.
A product of the Gloucestershire Pathway, Dani made her debut for the county in 2014 at the age of just 13. After a number of successful campaigns, she moved to Wales ahead of the 2019 season.
After making her way through Western Storm’s South West Regional Development Programme, she made her full Storm debut in the 2018 Kia Super League and was part of the squad that lifted the title the following summer.
A former England Academy player, Dani made her full international debut in the 2023 Ashes series. She has since gone on to represent her country on 41 occasions, scoring 311 runs with a best of 41 not out and claiming 21 wickets with a best of three for 14.
The 25-year-old is also one of the most sought-after players in franchise cricket, having featured in the Big Bash and WPL. This summer saw her become the most expensive player in The Women’s Hundred when she joined Sunrisers Leeds from London Spirit.
In her eight matches for Somerset, Dani has scored 262 runs with a best of 77. She also has best figures of two for 31 for the Club.
After agreeing to her contract extension, Dani said: “I’m pleased to be committing my future to Somerset. It’s an exciting time for the Club and this summer has shown what this squad is capable of.
“Since day one, the Club has made everyone feel like they belong here. It’s an honour to represent Somerset and when the opportunity to pull that shirt on comes around, I’ll do everything I can to score runs, take wickets and help Somerset win matches.”

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which you just can’t buy. We’ve got a really young group, so any chance they get to spend time around players like Dani and learn from her is a really good one.

“It’s really important to have players like Dani sign on again. She’s a great person, an explosive cricketer and someone who we thoroughly enjoy watching go out and play.”
