Top 5 catches of the season

2023 saw a number of outstanding performances from Somerset players across the three formats of the game.

Over the course of the next few weeks we’ll be looking back over the season and bringing you what we believe are our top five moments.

Today we will be focusing on the top five catches of the year.

1 – “TKC, take a bow!”

Everyone dreams of taking a sensational catch to win a match, but to achieve that feat to secure silverware is something very special indeed.

That is exactly what Tom Kohler-Cadmore did in the final of this season’s Vitality Blast!

2 – Kasey makes an instant impact

Kasey Aldridge made his Vitality Blast debut for Somerset against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in June, and things couldn’t really have gone much better.

Somerset claimed a comprehensive victory by eight wickets and the 22-year-old claimed one of the catches of the season to remove Chris Cooke.

3 – Craig takes a stunner

During his career, Craig Overton has proved himself to be one of the finest fielders in the domestic game.

He underlined this with a stunning grab against Northamptonshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship at the Cooper Associates County Ground to account for Ricardo Vasconcelos.

4 – Lewis leads by example

Lewis Gregory captained Somerset to Vitality Blast glory this summer, and he certainly played his part with both the bat and the ball.

His fielding was pretty impressive too, as demonstrated by this brilliant one-handed catch off his own bowling in our victory over Sussex Sharks at the 1st Central County Ground in May.

5 – Rew’s reach

The summer of 2023 was certainly a year to remember for James Rew.

His batting exploits have been well documented, but he was also outstanding behind the stumps as this remarkable take against Northamptonshire demonstrates.
