Tom Named in England Lions Squad
The England Lions selectors have selected a strong 20-player squad for the two-match T20 series against Sri Lanka this week.
The extended squad includes seven players named in the England Men white-ball squads to play Sri Lanka later this month.
Tom Banton, James Coles, Aneurin Donald, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton and Saqib Mahmood are included from the T20 squad, with Henry Crocombe drafted in from the ODI squad.
England capped Mason Crane, Tom Hartley and Luke Wood are also included alongside three of the players who helped the Young Lions to the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup final earlier this year – Caleb Falconer, Ben Mayes and Joe Moores.
The matches will be played at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in Chelmsford and the County Ground in Beckenham on Friday 11 September and Sunday 13 September respectively.
The extended squad allows England players to prepare for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, which begins with the first Vitality IT20 at the Utilita Bowl on Tuesday 15 September, while also giving opportunity to the next wave of talent in the county game around their Rothesay County Championship commitments.
Jonathan Trott is Head Coach for the series with a coaching staff of Troy Cooley, Graeme Swann, Ravi Bopara and Carl Hopkinson.
