Somerset v Yorkshire: Updates

Somerset are taking on Yorkshire in a pre-season fixture at Desert Springs in Spain.

The two-day red ball fixture will see Somerset bat on day one with Yorkshire batting on day two.

DAY TWO

After batting on the opening day, it was Somerset’s turn to field today.

By the time the lunch interval arrived, Yorkshire had been restricted to 59 for two from 28.4 overs.

Josh Shaw and James Theedom were the bowlers to take the wickets.

By tea the score had advanced to 219 for four, Zach Vukusic claiming a wicket whilst Matthew Revis retired out.

At the close of play Yorkshire had reached 324 for six.

DAY ONE

Archie Vaughan and Josh Thomas opened the batting and shared a stand of 45 before the latter was bowled by Ben Coad for 32.

Tom Lammonby (11) was bowled by George Hill at 60 for two but Vaughan and Tom Abell added 20 before the former Somerset Captain was caught by Matthew Revis off the bowling of Jay Singh for 12.

At lunch, Somerset had reached 80 for three.

After the break, Vaughan continued to accumulate runs and went to his half century.

James Rew and Lewis Goldsworthy picked up where Vaughan left off and were 44 not out and 42 not out respectively as Somerset reached 202 for five at tea.

Somerset eventually closed the day on 309 for nine.

Rew made 45 whilst Goldsworthy finished on 44. Batting for a second time in the innings, Lammonby added 40 to the total.

Former Somerset spinner, Dom Bess was the pick of the Yorkshire bowlers, claiming two for 18 from seven overs.
