Somerset sign Josh Shaw
Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to be able to announce the signing of Josh Shaw on a three-year contract.
He will arrive at the Cooper Associates County Ground ahead of the 2026 season.
The 29-year-old began his career at Yorkshire before moving to Gloucestershire in 2019 following two successful loan spells.
The right-arm seamer played a key role in Gloucestershire’s 2024 Vitality Blast win, claiming 19 victims during the tournament at an average of 18 including two wickets in the final.
During his career, Josh has featured in more than 140 matches across the formats, taking in excess of 230 wickets.
After agreeing to make the short trip down the M5, Josh said: “I’m really excited for a new challenge, and the prospect of joining Somerset was something I couldn’t turn down.
“I’ve always enjoyed the character of the team and playing at Taunton in front of their loyal supporters and I look forward to playing a part in bringing more silverware to the Club in the coming years.”
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “We have seen first-hand how impactful Josh can be. He has the ability to swing and seam the ball, and he is an excellent addition to our bowling unit.
“We are fully aware of Josh’s strong character traits and his willingness to be the best version of himself, which will add real value to the dressing room as well as on the pitch. These attributes will be vital for us as we continue to compete across all competitions.”
