Somerset sign Jordan Hermann
Somerset County Cricket Club can today confirm the signing of South African batter, Jordan Hermann for the next three Rothesay County Championship matches.
He will be available for selection for the fixtures against Sussex, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.
The 24-year-old has scored over 3000 runs in First Class cricket at an average of 45.22 with a best of 187 not out.
Jordan, who has been named in the South Africa A squad that will take on England Lions in two four-day matches in May, was recently called into the main South African side for the first time for the Proteas’ IT20 victory over New Zealand.
After agreeing terms on the short-term deal, Jordan said: “I’m excited by the opportunity of playing County Championship cricket for Somerset. I’m always looking to get better and hopefully playing in English conditions can help take my game to the next level. Somerset have begun the season well and hopefully I can help to contribute to the team carrying on that good start.”
Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “We have suffered a number of injuries to key batters in the last month, so we felt that this was the perfect opportunity to strengthen the batting line up, and Jordan will certainly help to strengthen our options in that department.
“Jordan is a player with a growing reputation, and we look forward to him helping us to maintain our positive start to the County Championship campaign.”
