Somerset sign Brett Randell
Somerset County Cricket Club have completed the signing of New Zealand seamer Brett Randell on a short-term contract.
The 29-year-old right-armer, who has represented Central Districts and Northern Districts in First Class cricket, will be available for selection for our final three Vitality County Championship Division One fixtures.
The former Under 19 international, who earned a call up to the New Zealand A squad last year, has featured in a total of 30 First Class matches, claiming 86 wickets at an average of 25.15 with a best of six for 45.
After signing for Somerset, Brett said: “I’m beyond excited to be joining Somerset for the rest of the County Championship this year. It’s been a dream of mine to play County Cricket since I was a boy, and it’s special to have the chance to play for such a great club.
“First Class wins are tough to come by, so I’m looking forward to giving my best to bring some wins Somerset’s way.”
Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry is pleased to have been able to secure Brett’s services. “We have gained valuable experience over the last couple of seasons to understand the importance of having depth to our bowling unit as we enter the final stages of the season, when there is so much to play for.
“Brett will add experience to the unit and hopefully bring added impetus that will enable us to manage our bowlers across the formats in order for us to finish strongly.”
