Shoaib Bashir joins Worcestershire on loan
Somerset spinner Shoaib Bashir will join Worcestershire County Cricket Club on loan, effective immediately, until June 26th.
He will be eligible to play in Worcestershire’s Vitality Blast group stage games and the Vitality County Championship match during that period.
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry believes that this move will benefit both Shoaib and Somerset CCC.
“This loan agreement will give Shoaib the opportunity to play First XI cricket across two formats,” he explained. “That can only benefit his continued development, whilst his opportunities here are currently limited. When he returns, he will be match sharp, match fit, will have gained more experience and be closer to doing what he does best, which is contributing to wins for Somerset.
“The loan system is something that we have utilised effectively over the last few years, and this is another example of us making use of a procedure that will be mutually beneficial to all parties.
“We look forward to welcoming Shoaib back to the Cooper Associates County Ground at the end of June when he will be available for selection for our County Championship fixture against Warwickshire.”
