Setback for Sonny

Somerset bowler, Sonny Baker is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a back injury in a recent Second XI match.

The 20-year-old was experiencing back pain in the fixture against Warwickshire, and a scan this week has highlighted the extent of the injury.

SCCC Head of Science & Medicine, Jamie Thorpe outlines what the scan has revealed. “After reporting discomfort in his back a few weeks ago. He underwent an MRI scan which has diagnosed him with a lumbar stress fracture.

“We will now be seeking specialist advice in order to plan the optimum management strategy for Sonny. We will then put together a programme for his rehabilitation over the next few months.”

Sonny made his Somerset debut in 2021 and has represented the Club in 11 List A matches claiming 19 wickets at an average of 25.42 with a best of six for 46.
