Riley to Return in 2025
Riley Meredith is set to return to Somerset for the 2025 Vitality Blast.
The 28-year-old impressed during his spell with the Club this summer and was a key element of Somerset’s run to Finals Day at Edgbaston, taking 14 wickets at an average of 22.78 with a best of four for 12. He also featured in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, claiming six wickets at an average of 21.33 with a best of four for 27.
The seamer’s notable performances for Somerset resulted in a recall to the Australian national side.
There is also provision within the agreement for Riley to be considered for selection for County Championship and Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures during his stay at the Cooper Associates County Ground, dependent on the 2025 domestic structure.
After agreeing to return to the Cooper Associates County Ground next summer, Riley said: “I really enjoyed my time with Somerset this year and I’m looking forward to coming back to England next summer. We played some good cricket, and it was nice to be able to play a part in some good wins.
“Hopefully, we can go on to lift some silverware in 2025.”
Andy Hurry is pleased that Riley will be back in Taunton in 2025. “We were all extremely impressed with how Riley performed on the field and by how he seamlessly he fitted into the group.
“He showed that he is a world class performer, and he brought something a little different to our already outstanding attack. He bowled with genuine pace and aggression and will once again be a valuable addition to our squad next summer.”
