TEAM NEWS
Somerset have named the following 13-player squad for the match: Lewis Gregory, Tom Abell, Kasey Aldridge, Jake Ball, Tom Banton, Josh Davey, Sean Dickson, Tom Lammonby, Jack Leach, Alfie Ogborne, Craig Overton, James Rew and Archie Vaughan.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ahead of the match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “Everyone is excited. We had a brilliant trip to Abu Dhabi and all the guys maximised that opportunity out there on grass. Now we can transfer that into English conditions and hopefully we can get three days in ahead of that first game against Worcestershire.
“We’re in a good position because the majority of the squad are fit and we’ve got some genuine selection headaches. Competition for places is extremely strong and there will be some tough decisions to make because we’ve seen some real growth within individuals over the winter.
“The closer you get to the start of the season, the harder it becomes because you have to nail your flag to the mast selection wise. There will be some disappointed people when it comes to selection but hopefully they can use that as fuel to create further competition for places.
“I think the result of this game is irrelevant at this stage. It’s still about making sure that the guy’s skills are ready for that game against Worcestershire.”
