Overseas Update: January 2024

 

A number of our players are playing abroad this winter.

Here is an update on how they’ve been performing recently.

Tom Abell

Tom is currently in South Africa playing in the SA20 tournament for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

He has featured in five matches in the competition so far, scoring 157 runs at a strike rate 152.42 with an average of 52.33 and a best of 65.

He was named player of the match on Saturday after his 60 from 44 balls helped his side to a four-run victory over MI Cape Town.

Roelof van der Merwe

Roelof is representing Dubai Capitals in the International League T20 where he has been in good form with the ball, claiming three for 27 in his last match against Gulf Giants.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore

TKC is also in action in the ILT20 tournament.

His player of the match performance for Sharjah Warriors against Desert Vipers at the weekend saw him smash his way to 68 runs from 34 balls as his side won by seven runs.

George Thomas

George is spending the winter in Australia playing for Fremantle.

In his latest First Grade match against Wanneroo, George claimed two for 26 from 14 overs and contributed a rapid 20 not out from 12 balls.

Jack Leach

Jack played his part in England’s sensational win in the first Test against India at the weekend.

Despite suffering what has been reported as a knee injury, Jack bowled 36 overs in the match and claimed the vital wicket of India Captain, Rohit Sharma in the first innings and that of Shreyas Iyer in the second innings.

James Rew

James is part of the England Lions squad currently touring India.

In the first unofficial Test, James made 56 not out in England Lions’ second innings as the match finished in a draw.
