
Overseas Update – February 3rd 2025
In the last few days there have been a number of standout performances from Somerset players who are currently overseas.
There was a battle of the big hitters in the ILT20 as Tom Banton’s MI Emirates took on Tom Kohler- Cadmore’s Sharjah Warriorz in Abu Dhabi.
The Warriorz won the toss and elected to field.
Banton top scored with an unbeaten 84 from just 51 balls as MI Emirates posted 173 for five from their allotted overs. His innings included six fours and five sixes.

It was then TKC’s chance to take centre stage and he grasped the opportunity with both hands.
He smashed his way to 91 from only 52 deliveries as his side reached their target with 16 balls remaining to claim an eight wicket victory.
His innings saw him awarded the Player of the Match trophy.
Both teams have now qualified for the play offs.

Craig Overton was in fine form with the ball and in the field for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20.
He helped his side to a 48-run win over Paarl Royals.
Craig claimed three for 15 and took a stunning catch in the victory.

Will Smeed is also playing in South Africa this winter.
He recently made 52 from 36 balls for Pretoria Capitals but he couldn’t prevent his side from slipping to a 27-run defeat to MI Cape Town.

New Zealand international bowler, Matt Henry claimed 11 wickets in the 2025 Super Smash tournament as Canterbury finished as runners up to Central Districts.
He claimed his wickets at an average of just 8.27 with a best of five for 18.

Katie Jones played an integral role as England reached the semi-final stage of the Under 19 T20 Word Cup.
The 19-year-old keeper/batter claimed seven stumpings and two catches as England reached the last four of the tournament before losing to eventual winners India.
Katie’s impressive performances behind the stumps also saw her named in the ICC Team of the Tournament.

Sophie Luff scored an impressive 84 for Parramatta as they beat Sydney University by 98 runs in their 50-over clash in NSW Premier Cricket. Alex Griffiths also played in the match for Parramatta and scored 25.
