New Deal for Jason

Somerset County Cricket Club is delighted to be able to announce that Head Coach, Jason Kerr has signed a new contract.

The contract extension will see Jason remain at the helm until at least the end of 2028.

Jason made his Somerset debut in 1993 and remained with his adopted County until 2001. A shoulder injury brought his career to a premature end in 2002, but the former all-rounder returned to Somerset to lead the Academy and Second XI in 2005 and was appointed Bowling Coach in 2015.

Following his outstanding work with the Somerset Pathway, Jason was appointed as Head Coach ahead of the 2018 season and led the Club to Royal London One-Day Cup success in 2019.

Under his stewardship, the Club has remained consistently competitive across all formats while establishing itself as a dominant force in white-ball cricket, highlighted by Vitality Blast titles in 2023 and 2025.

After pledging his future to the Club, Jason said: “I’m incredibly privileged and delighted to have my contract extended. “My hunger and desire to be successful and to develop players only gets stronger. It’s incredibly exciting when you look at the potential of the Club. The group of players that we have can achieve great things.

“It’s been an incredible journey so far, and one that’s brought successes to the Club. Hopefully, we can add to that success in the coming years.

“I fully understand what this Club represents to the community because it represents the same to me. I love what I do, and the expectations surrounding this team are a testament to how far we’ve come. That’s what drives me.”

Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “Jason’s passion for Somerset County Cricket Club is plain for all to see. As well as leading the team to three major titles, he has instilled a culture within the dressing room that has enabled our players and staff to thrive. This is evidenced in the number of players and coaches who have been selected for global tournaments and international cricket over the last few years.

“Jason has a constant desire to improve and innovate in order to drive himself and those around him forward for the benefit of the whole Club. It has been a pleasure to see him evolve over the course of his journey and everyone associated with the Club is delighted that he has committed his future to Somerset Cricket.”
