Migael set to return to Taunton

Somerset County Cricket Club is pleased to be able to announce that Migael Pretorius will return to the Cooper Associates County Ground for the 2027 season.

The 31-year-old will be available for selection across all formats for the duration of the summer.

Migael first joined Somerset during the summer of 2024 and returned to Taunton for the 2025 and 2026 campaigns.

In total, Migael has featured in 40 matches for Somerset, scoring 1127 runs with a top score of 95 not out. He has also taken 106 wickets with a best of five for 64.

The South African all rounder was also part of the squad that lifted the Vitality Blast trophy in 2025.

Regarding his return to Somerset, Migael said: “I love playing for Somerset. I couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome over the last few years and it’s great to be a part of this special group.

“Somerset has become a second home for my family and I’m looking forward to repaying the faith that the Club and the supporters have shown in me.

“It was incredible to win a trophy in 2025 and hopefully we can do that again in 2027.”

Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “Over the last few years, Migael has become a key component of this squad both on and off the field. He instantly bought into the Club culture and has demonstrated on a number of occasions across the formats that he can positively impact matches for us with the ball and the bat.

“His quality and experience will be valuable tools for us in 2027, and he will once again add depth and quality to our squads.”
