Migael extends his stay

Somerset County Cricket Club have been successful in extending the services of Migael Pretorius for a further two Vitality County Championship matches, and if required, an option for the Vitality Blast.

The 29-year-old was originally contracted until the conclusion of our fixture at Durham, but after impressing throughout the Championship so far, the Club have worked to extend the South African’s stay until at least the July 4th.

He will therefore be available at least for selection for the County Championship fixtures against Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Migael has played an important role in Somerset’s strong start to the red-ball campaign, scoring over 160 runs with a best of 77 and claiming 14 wickets with a best of four for 36.

After extending his stay, Migael said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time with Somerset so far and I’m pleased that it will be continuing. There’s a great atmosphere in the dressing room and everyone is performing well on the field.

“We’ve had a great start to the season and hopefully I can continue to contribute to that by helping us to win even more games.”

Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry is pleased that the bowling all-rounder will be remaining with the Club. “We’ve all been impressed by Migael since he arrived at the Cooper Associates County Ground. His attitude and approach have been first class, and he has demonstrated on the field that he is a really valuable player and person to have around the group.

“We are delighted that he will be staying with us for an extended period and look forward to him helping us to maintain our very positive start to the season.”
