THE MATCH
Somerset welcome Lancashire to the Cooper Associates County Ground in the Metro Bank One Day Cup tomorrow (Tuesday August 11th).
Play will get underway at 11am with gates opening at 10am.

Somerset’s route into the knockout stage comes down to a specific chain of results on the final matchday. For Somerset to advance on 16 points, five distinct outcomes must fall into place:

Somerset must beat Lancashire.

Nottinghamshire must beat Surrey.

Gloucestershire must beat Northamptonshire.

Warwickshire must beat Kent.

Net Run Rate (NRR): Somerset must secure a strong enough win to maintain a superior NRR over the other teams finishing level on 16 points.
Somerset are currently seventh in the Group A table with 12 points from seven fixtures whilst the visitors are third with 16 points from the same number of matches

Ticket buyers can download their online tickets via their SCCC account. All ticket or Membership collections or queries will be managed at the Jack White Gates (St James Street).
The Club Reception Desk is now permanently based in the Reception of the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion.
Due to the busy nature of a matchday, our telephone lines will reopen at 10am on Wednesday August 12th.

SOMERSET LEISURE FAN VILLAGE
The Somerset Leisure Fan Village is situated in the St James Street side of the Cooper Associates County Ground.
This will feature a wide range of food and drink. Matchday food and drink will also be available from the SCCC concessions and bars around the ground.
Joel’s, which is located behind Block Five of the Somerset Stand, near the Joel Garner Gates will also be open.

You can also keep up to date by using our dedicated matchday blog via this website’s Match Centre and on our X feed.
Somerset County Cricket Club will be providing radio ear pieces to enable Members and supporters to enjoy our live ball-by-ball match commentary. These will be available to purchase from Reception in the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion at a cost of £12 and these will last all season.

Overview: A young Lancashire side has only won three of 16 matches combined across the past two campaigns, with only one of those coming last season. Their squad had been decimated by Hundred call-ups but should be stronger through this campaign.
Player to watch: Josh Bohannon hasn’t had the season he would have hoped, but he’s enjoyed this competition recently with three centuries across 2024 and 2025.
Young gun: Lancashire believe wicketkeeper-batter Joe Moores is a star of the future. The England Under 19s left-hander made his senior debut in last year’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup and has broken into the other two formats this summer.
Final thought: Off the Rothesay County Championship promotion pace, the Red Rose just failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Vitality T20 Blast, a stage of the competition they are regulars at. They desperately need a pick-me-up in this competition.

Ahead of the match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “Obviously, we’re disappointed by how things went at Northants, but that’s in the past now and we have to focus on Lancashire. We know that we need other things to go our way but we can only control the controllables. All we can do at this stage is do everything we can to take the points against Lancashire, and that’s what we’ll be doing.
“Our home form has been excellent and hopefully that can continue because I genuinely believe that this squad has the quality to reach the knock out stages. We will certainly be looking to give the Members and supporters something to cheer on Tuesday because they have been exceptional as always.”
CLASSIC MATCH
We go back to May 2011 for the classic List A match between the two sides at Taunton.
Impressive performances from Marcus Trescothick, Jos Buttler and Lewis Gregory ensured that Somerset came out on top in this 40-over Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture.
Trescothick won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first.
Steven Croft top scored for the Red Rose County making 107 as the visitors finished on 248 for six. Gregory was the pick of the home bowlers, claiming four for 40 from his seven overs.
Trescothick was then at his brilliant best, smashing his way to 111 not out from just 79 balls. He shared an unbeaten stand of 80 for the fourth wicket with Buttler (51*) as Somerset eased to victory with eight overs to spare.
