THE MATCH
Somerset welcome local rivals Gloucestershire to the Cooper Associates County Ground in the Metro Bank One Day Cup tomorrow (Friday July 24th).
Play will get underway at 2pm with gates opening at 12pm.
Tickets for this match, which also includes our annual Beer & Cider festival, are still available.
Please note that Member guest passes are no longer available for this fixture.

The event will be held in the Somerset Leisure Fan Village at the St James Street side of the ground.
The fan village will open two hours before the floodlit fixture and there will be a variety of the best live musical talent from the local area.
A wide variety of tailored food options will also be available to purchase.
All Members and matchday ticket holders will receive a full set tasting notes for Beers & Ciders on offer to score and perhaps, find a new favourite!

- Beers and ciders are only available with tokens which can be purchased from the official sale points in front of Stragglers and behind the Rotec Stand.
- If you have pre-ordered your beer & cider tokens, these can be collected from the Sir Viv Richards Gates (Priory Bridge Road).
- 1 token = 1 pint.
- Discounts are available on purchases of 5 or 10 tokens.
- No tokens will be sold after 8:45pm and bars will stop serving at 9:15pm.
- All tokens must be used by 9:15pm.
- Tokens are non-refundable and have no cash value.
- Tokens are only redeemable on draft beer and cider.
- Tokens can only be purchased and redeemed by over 18s.
- Tokens cannot be redeemed in the Lord Botham Stan, the Marcus Trescothick Lower Upper and Lower Concessions or in The County Room Bar.

Ticket buyers can download their online tickets via their SCCC account. All ticket or Membership collections or queries will be managed at the Jack White Gates (St James Street).
The Club Reception Desk is now permanently based in the Reception of the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion.
Due to the busy nature of a matchday, our telephone lines will reopen at 10am on Monday July 27th.
Scorecards will be available from Reception in the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion. Completed scorecards can be downloaded after the match via the Membership section of this website.
SOMERSET LEISURE FAN VILLAGE
The Somerset Leisure Fan Village will be situated in the St James Street side of the Cooper Associates County Ground.
This will feature a wide range of food and drink plus live music as part of our 2026 Beer & Cider Festival!
Live music will be performed by: Mischa, Yesterday’s Youth, and Stevie Nicole Brown.
Matchday food and drink will also be available from the SCCC concessions and bars around the ground.
Joel’s, which is located behind Block Five of the Somerset Stand, near the Joel Garner Gates will also be open.

Overview: Gloucestershire do not lose any players to The Hundred so, with the exception of overseas signings Liam Scott and D’Arcy Short, they will be able to field the players who got to the quarters in the Vitality T20 Blast this summer.
Player to watch: Tommy Boorman has developed through Gloucestershire’s age groups and, at 21, has now represented the club in all formats of the domestic game. His unbeaten 33 saw them to victory over Leicestershire in last season’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Young gun: Kamran Dhariwal smashed a 13-ball half-century in the recent Vitality T20 Blast group game against Worcestershire. The 21-year-old product of the South Asian Cricket Academy is studying medicine at Bristol University but looks to have a bright future as a cricketer.
Final thought: Gloucestershire reeled off six group wins in succession at the start of last summer’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup before losing the next two and their quarter-final. They like the format and are keen to build on their Vitality T20 Blast form that saw them reach the quarter-finals of that competition.
TEAM NEWS
Somerset are without Alfie Ogborne (back) but Lewis Goldsworthy returns to the squad after completing he concussion protocols.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ahead of the match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “It was a frustrating result against Notts. Obviously, it was the first game of the competition, and you want to start well. We did some really good things but couldn’t quite get over the line with an inexperienced side. There’s certainly a lot of learnings to be taken from the game and we need to take those into tomorrow.
“At this stage of the campaign, it’s about improving the way we play, and I think we have to be realistic with the side. There’s some inexperienced cricketers and they’ll find themselves in situations where they won’t have been before. As always, the intent is definitely to get the right result but what’s also important is that the players are developing and moving forward.
“The first home game in this competition is always exciting and there’ll be a lot of people here supporting us, so we need to put on a really good show. Obviously, it’s a local derby and we want to get the upper hand because we want the bragging rights at the close of play. Hopefully, it’ll be an exciting fixture for the big crowd and one that sees us get the right result.”
CLASSIC MATCH
We go back to 1982 for our classic List A fixture between the two sides.
Somerset welcomed Gloucestershire to Taunton on May 27th for a 55-over Benson & Hedges Cup, and it was the home side who came out on top by 13 runs thanks to a century from Peter ‘Dasher’ Denning.
Gloucestershire Captain, David Graveney won the toss and elected to field.
Denning and Peter Roebuck ensured that the home side got off to a good start and shared an opening stand of 124 before the latter was caught and bowled by John Childs for 44.
Denning then shared his second 124-run partnership of the day with Viv Richards (72). ‘Dasher’ was eventually dismissed for 129 as Somerset posted a total of 307 for six from their allotted overs.
David Surridge was the pick of the visiting attack, claiming three for 49 from his 11 overs.
Hallam Moseley and Ian Botham reduced the visitors to 21 for two and at 95 for five Gloucestershire were in trouble. However, 80 from Philip Bainbridge, 49 not out from Graveney and 47 from John Shepherd kept their side in the game.
The Somerset bowlers held their nerve and restricted Gloucestershire to 294 for seven to claim the victory.
