Matt Henry – Update

New Zealand International seamer, Matt Henry will be available for selection for Somerset’s Rothesay County Championship match against Sussex which begins on Friday May 16th at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

The 33-year-old who was originally due to arrive in early April picked up an injury which delayed his original arrival. Since then, Matt has undergone a phased rehabilitation programme with the New Zealand Sports Science & Medicine team and will now be available through to July 9th.

During his previous spell with the Club in 2023, Matt was the leading wicket taker in the Vitality Blast and claimed the Player of the Match award in the final as Somerset overcame Essex to lift the trophy. He also played in six County Championship fixtures, claiming 32 wickets at an average of 16.18.

In addition to the County Championship clash against Sussex, Matt will be available for selection for the red ball fixtures with Durham, Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire as well as Somerset’s opening 11 Vitality Blast fixtures across that period.
