Matt Henry unavailable for Blast
Somerset will be without New Zealand International, Matt Henry for this weekend’s Vitality Blast quarter-final against Bears.
Following consultations with Cricket New Zealand, who are preparing for an important series against Australia early next month, the 33-year-old will be unavailable for this match and also for Finals Day, should Somerset win on Saturday.
Regarding Matt’s availability, Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “Unfortunately, we will be without Matt for the remainder of the competition. He has played an important role in our qualification for the knockout stages and we thank him for his efforts.
“With the international calendar expanding every year, alongside the changes to the domestic structure, it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure the services of international players for the duration of tournaments.
“Obviously, it is a blow to lose a player of Matt’s quality, but we have an extremely strong bowling unit, and this represents an opportunity for one of our players to step up and be a potential match-winner.”
