Lewis to join Leicestershire on loan

Somerset all-rounder Lewis Goldsworthy will join Leicestershire on a short-term loan for the upcoming Vitality Blast.

The 23-year-old will be available for the entire group stage of tournament, but if required, due to injuries, can be recalled by Somerset at any stage.

Goldsworthy will link up with the squad ahead of the Foxes’ opening match against Yorkshire tonight at the Uptonsteel County Ground.

Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry believes that the move will prove beneficial to all parties. “With competition for places really high, we feel this loan opportunity with Leicestershire will provide Lewis with some excellent First XI competitive game time and enhance his growth within this format. He is a key member of our squad, and we are really looking forward to seeing him contribute and gaining more valuable experience in T20 cricket. ”

Somerset begin their T20 season tonight when we take on Essex at 6:30pm in a repeat of the 2023 Final. This fixture is sold out but tickets are available for the other six group-stage home matches taking place at the Cooper Associates County Ground this summer.
