Fin’s First Season as a Pro

2025 was Fin Hill’s first year as a professional cricketer.

Was it everything that he hoped it would be?

“Absolutely! I’ve loved it! Playing, training and getting to know everyone has been exactly what I’d hoped it would be. I feel like I had a good year and hopefully I can do even better next year.

“It’s really nice to play in front of big crowds and to play First Team cricket was exciting. To make a couple of good scores in front of people who care so much about the Club was great.

“It was exciting to be in that dressing room as a pro and getting to walk out in front of a full crowd for the first time but at the same time there were definitely some nerves there. It was just a case of trying to focus on my game and how I could perform to the best of my ability. Fortunately, it was all good in the end.”

What was his highlight of 2025?

“I’d probably have to say my favourite moment was my first 50 against Lancashire where I came in at the end and helped the team get to a decent total. Although we didn’t win, I felt like I genuinely contributed.”

What does Fin think of the Somerset fans?

“When everyone is clapping you, it feels incredibly special and I’m just glad that I could please some of the people in the ground. I love it when people come up to me and want to talk. It makes you feel like you’re valued, and the fans make you feel special. Hopefully, that can continue.”

What does 2026 have in store for Fin?

“We’ll have to wait and see. I’m going to focus on training hard over the winter and improving my game. I’ve definitely got some goals in both the short and long term and obviously playing First Team cricket in all formats for Somerset is what we all want to be doing. What I do know is that I’m going to be taking each day as it comes and working really hard.”
