Craig nominated for PCA Player of the Month for July
Somerset all rounder Craig Overton has been nominated for the PCA Player of the Month for July.
The PCA Player of the Month vote for July is now open, with the top four players statistically across the men’s and women’s game nominated for the award.
The eight highest performing players in the domestic game have been revealed using the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX, with two accolades to be awarded through the MVP and your votes.
In 2026 so far, winners have included Craig Overton, Martin Andersson Jodi Grewcock, Mady Villiers and Maia Bouchier. Incredibly Overton, with two wins to his name already, is nominated again, meaning he has been nominated in the Player of the Month vote in April, May, June and July, further emphasising his dominant summer.
Australian all-rounder Charli Knott had a phenomenal month, topping the rankings by almost 50 points with 177.58 and winning the Vitality Blast. Hampshire and Trent Rocket’s Georgia Adams finished second with Durham teammates Hollie Armitage and Heather Graham completing an impressive quartet of players.
In the men’s game, Hampshire and MI London’s James Vince excelled by securing 146.40 MVP points with Overton less than a point behind. Derbyshire’s Aneurin Donald was third despite only playing five games in July with Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth in fourth place.
Men’s Player of the Month:
Craig Overton (Somerset & Trent Rockets)
Overton once again portrayed his all-round abilities scoring 129 runs, dismissed just once while taking 12 wickets at 23.42 a-piece and earning 24 fielding points.
The 32-year-old international produced an unbelievable performance to get Somerset to Finals Day, smashing 79 off 30 balls batting at number nine with eight fours and five sixes and taking 2-36 to help his side win by two wickets against Yorkshire, securing 49.59 MVP points.
James Vince (Hampshire & MI London)
A prolific month for Vince saw him score an incredible 398 runs at an average of 36.16, earning 126.40 MVP batting points.
The 35-year-old earnt two Match MVP awards in the Blast. Against Kent he scored 63 off 40 balls, gaining 24.81 MVP points, however, his performance of the month came against Essex, scoring 125 off 61 balls with 14 fours and seven sixes in a 75-run win, earning a further 54.12 MVP points.
Aneurin Donald (Derbyshire)
Donald scored 271 runs at an average of 54.2, with an outstanding strike-rate of 225.83 in July, securing the most batting MVP points in the month with 128.3.
The 29-year-old took six dismissals behind the stumps and won three Match MVP awards. Against Leicestershire he smashed 91 off just 38 balls with seven fours and seven sixes as Derbyshire chased down 172 in 14.3 overs, earning him 53.71 MVP points.
Adam Lyth (Yorkshire)
Lyth scored 375 runs in July, averaging 41.66 with the bat alongside taking two wickets in the One Day Cup at 26.5-a-piece.
The 38-year-old opener earnt a Match MVP against Leicestershire in the Blast for his incredible unbeaten innings of 131 off just 63 balls which included 16 fours and six sixes in a 41-run victory for Yorkshire, earning Lyth a further 54.32 MVP points.
Women’s Player of the Month:
Charli Knott (The Blaze)
Finishing as the leading wicket-taker and winning the Vitality Blast Women’s Player of the Year, Knott produced a great July scoring 227 runs at an average of 56.75 and taking 17 wickets at nine-a-piece.
The 23-year-old Australian secured three Match MVP awards, the most impressive of which coming against Yorkshire, where she earnt 58.87 points – the highest total in the competition – for figures of 1-19 and an unbeaten 84 off 57 balls.
Georgia Adams (Hampshire & Trent Rockets)
The Hampshire captain enjoyed a fruitful month with bat and ball scoring 180 runs, averaging 30, and taking 10 wickets with an average of 15.1, whilst leading her side to Blast Finals Day.
The 32-year-old won two Match MVP awards, against The Blaze she scored 49 off 30 balls with seven fours and two sixes along with exceptional figure of 4-16, earning 47.41 MVP points in a 23-run victory.
Hollie Armitage (Durham & MI London)
With 274 runs at an average of 34.25 and 12 fielding points, Armitage produced some match winning performances for her side.
Against Lancashire, her unbeaten innings of 44 off 33 balls with seven fours earnt her 27.32 points and the Match MVP in a seven-wicket win for Durham. The 29-year-old also smashed an unbeaten 69 off 47 balls against The Blaze in the Blast.
Heather Graham (Durham & Welsh Fire)
Graham scored 128 runs, averaging 21.3 and took 12 wickets at 20.67 a-piece during July playing for Durham and Welsh Fire.
The 29-year-old Australian all-rounder produced a notable performance against Essex scoring 36 off just 23 balls to go with figures of 1-31 in a 12-run loss at Chester-le-Street. She also impressed in The Hundred taking remarkable figures of 4-19 against Southern Brave.
The PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX, picks out the game’s top performers across every single fixture. This then forms the rankings for each competition, as well as an overall table which is how the top four are selected. The MVP takes into account batting, bowling and fielding contributions and match defining achievements using a unique live algorithm developed by CricViz.
The PCA Player of the Month will be decided by a 50:50 split between the PCA MVP Rankings and the public vote – the poll will close on Wednesday August 5th at 10pm.
