Contract extension for JT
Somerset seamer JT Langridge has signed a two-year contract extension.
The 19-year-old, whose first professional contract was due to expire this winter has signed a new deal which will keep him at the Cooper Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2028 season.
JT, who plays club cricket for Clevedon CC, joined the Somerset Pathway at Under 10 level and became a part of the SCCC Academy in the Autumn of 2022.
He appeared for Somerset in the 2023 National County fixtures against Devon and Cornwall before making his List A debut in August of that year against Sussex in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. He featured in two further matches in the competition and was rewarded with a call up to the England Under 19 squad, making his debut in the ODI series against Ireland.
The left-arm seamer has featured in seven List A fixtures for the Club, claiming seven wickets with a best of two for 34.
After signing his extension, JT said: “I’m very excited and very grateful because playing for Somerset has always been the dream. I’ve been here since I was nine and I loved my time on the Pathway and on the Academy and now I’m loving my time as a pro.
“Over the next two years I want to do as much as I can for the team as a strike bowler, take lots of wickets, score lots of runs and do as much as I can to contribute to the team.
“It’s an incredible feeling when you walk out on the field, especially when we’re at home. The support that we get is unbelievable and it gives you the best feeling, especially when you take a wicket.”
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “JT Langridge is a player who possesses a great deal of potential, and we are excited by the opportunity of continuing to support his development moving forward.
“He has demonstrated real growth with regard to how he can impact games with both the ball and with the bat, which is exciting, and we very much look forward to watching him progress over the next few years.”
