Archie made available for County Championship cricket
Somerset County Cricket Club have made all-rounder, Archie Vaughan available for selection for the Vitality County Championship for the remainder of the season.
The 18-year-old was initially selected to appear in this summer’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, but his impressive performances in the competition have seen him rewarded with the opportunity to be considered in red-ball cricket.
Archie signed his first professional contract, which commences on November 1st, earlier this year and has been a part of the Somerset Academy since 2020, making his Second XI debut in 2022. The top order batter and off spinner has featured in six Metro Bank One Day Cup matches for the Club this year, scoring 40 runs, claiming three wickets and impressing in the field.
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “We have been impressed by the way in which Archie has transitioned into the First XI environment. He has worked extremely hard to get to this point in his career and he deserves this opportunity.
“He offers us something a little different and his development can only benefit from being around the First team for an extended period of time.”
