Another year for Jake
Somerset seamer, Jake Ball has signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him at the Cooper Associates until at least the end of the 2026 season.
The 34-year-old joined Somerset ahead of the 2024 campaign and has represented the Club on a total of 34 occasions, taking more than 50 wickets across the formats.
Jake was also a key member of Somerset’s Vitality Blast winning side this year, claiming two wickets in the final against Hampshire at Edgbaston.
After signing his extension, Jake said: “It’s an extremely exciting time for the Club at the moment. We won the Vitality Blast, did well again the One Day Cup and are still challenging in the County Championship. I’ve really enjoyed playing my part in that success and hopefully we can do even better next year.
“The feeling of coming out on top at Finals Day is something very special. To win it after coming so close last year shows that there’s a huge amount of character in this group.
“I want to be playing more County Championship cricket in 2026, so I’ll be doing everything I can to push for a place in the red ball side. I’m feeling fit and strong and hopefully I can play my part in another good year for the Club.”
Somerset Director of Cricket Andy Hurry is really pleased to have retained the experienced seamer’s service for at least another season.
“Jake’s professionalism, experience, and cricketing knowledge have been a tremendous asset to the squad,” he said. “His influence, both on and off the field, continues to elevate the team as we push for further success.
“He showed on Finals Day that he can deliver when it matters most, and having him available across all formats next season is a major boost for the Club.”
