Another Year for Fin
Somerset County Cricket Club can today announce that Fin Hill has signed a contract extension.
The 20-year-old’s first professional contract was due to expire this winter, but he has agreed an extension until the end of the 2027 campaign.
The right-hander began his cricketing journey at Exeter Cricket Club, making his First XI debut at the age of 15 in July 2021.
He joined the Somerset Academy two months later.
The former Kings College student first appeared for the Somerset Second XI in 2022 before making his First XI debut the following year in the Metro Bank One Day Cup against Durham at Gosforth.
Fin has played in eight List A matches for the Club, scoring 132 runs in six innings at an average of 44 with a best of 57 not out against Lancashire at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
He also played an important role in Somerset’s Second XI T20 Cup triumph in 2024.
Unfortunately, a recent serious hamstring injury has brought a premature end to his season.
After signing his contract extension, Fin said: “Obviously, I’m very happy to sign a new contract. Given the nature of my injury, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have another year to try and put in some performances.
“It’s a good feeling to know that the Club are backing me and I’m just looking to put all the work in and come back stronger than ever next year.
“I’m always determined to do my best and to put in the effort during training and then out on the pitch. I’m going to be putting in the work in the gym and then in the nets. I’m really determined to come back when I’m fit and prove some things.”
Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “Fin is a talented young player with significant potential, and we are pleased to extend his time with the Club. This extension reflects our belief in his ability and provides a platform for him to continue developing towards regular First XI cricket across all formats.
“He possesses a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and a determination to improve. Although his 2026 season was unfortunately cut short, we are excited to see him return to full fitness and continue challenging for opportunities at the highest level.”
