“A real family vibe” – Somerset Women receive a warm welcome
Somerset’s first professional women’s team have had a busy few days.
The players and coaches have spent the week settling into the Cooper Associates County Ground, familiarising themselves with their new home and getting to know all of the SCCC staff.
Somerset Women Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is pleased with how quickly his players have acclimatised to their new surroundings. “The overriding feeling is that this already feels like home,” he said. “It’s been nice to be able to bring the players in and give them the opportunity to get to know the ground and meet all of the different departments within the organisation.
“Everyone has spoken about how welcome they’ve been made to feel and how excited they are to get going.”
Sophie Luff is no stranger to the CACG and she is looking forward to her teammates calling the ground their home. “It’s been brilliant,” she explained. “Everyone’s done a great job of helping us to settle in. It’s been especially nice for me because I’ve been able to catch up with some people who I’ve worked with previously and I’m excited for the girls to bed in and build those relationships as well themselves.
“We’ve been getting acquainted with the Club as a whole, which has been great for us as a group. It’s been a really good introduction to the organisation and we’re all now looking forward to the winter ahead. ”
Emma Corney has also enjoyed her first few days in Taunton. “It’s been a really nice first week,” she said. “Everyone’s been really welcoming and it’s exciting to be a part of an organisation that has so many people who are passionate about what they do. Everyone just wants success for each other and there’s a real family focus.”
Mollie Robbins added: “Everyone’s made a real effort to make us feel comfortable and that’s created a real family vibe. The first impressions are really good and I already feel like I’m settled in.”
