Under 18 Girls in semi final action on Sunday

The Somerset Under 18 Girls take on their Kent counterparts on Sunday in the semi final of the ECB County One-Day Knock Out Cup.

The match will take place at Wells Cathedral School, with play set to get underway at 11am.

Ahead of the match, Somerset Pathway Coach & Women and Girls Lead, Kieran Peters was full of praise for the players.

“The players should be really proud of what they’ve achieved so far,” he said. “They should also be really proud of how they’ve played their cricket.

“One of the most impressive things about this group is how they’ve come together as a group both on and off the field. It’s been great to see people supporting others and that has been evidence throughout the team’s performances. There’s a lot of belief in each other and that can be the little bit extra that you need to get across the line in tight games.

“Despite their age, this is a group with a good deal of experience. We’ve spoken a lot about how we want to go about our cricket and the group have come together really well. They’ve worked incredibly hard and have transitioned lots of the things we’ve spoken about over the winter into summer match play. We’re reaping the rewards of that currently and are unbeaten in the competition.

“We’ve had more than ten 50s and a hundred so far as well as seeing plenty of consistent performances with the ball, including Lola Harris taking six wickets in the quarter final.

“Everyone is really excited about the semi final and the challenge that will present. They are ready for the challenge and are ready to step up and play their best cricket.

“As a coaching group we’re really proud of them all.”
