Somerset Cricket Foundation are delighted to be able to announce a partnership with Walkers & Talkers which will see the delivery of a six-month pilot initiative at the Coopers Associates County Ground.

Launching on Tuesday March 7th, the project is designed to strengthen local community connection whilst at the same time reducing the feelings of loneliness and social isolation that are felt by so many

Walkers & Talkers was set up in 2021 by former Gloucestershire CCC wicketkeeper, Andy Brassington after he experienced the wellbeing benefits of regularly connecting and walking with friends in Bristol.

Throughout 2022, Walkers & Talkers has been a free regular Wednesday morning fixture in Bristol for individuals to come together, walk, talk and listen to a Q&A with a local sports personality.

The speaker list has included local sports personalities such as Syd Lawrence, Fran Wilson and Jon Lewis (cricket), Gareth Chilcott and Kevin Maggs (rugby), Ian Holloway (football) and Glen Catley (boxing).

The free to attend, six-month pilot with Somerset Cricket Foundation will take place once-a-month from March through to August.

After meeting for a complimentary coffee at 10am, there will be a gentle stroll around the Cooper Associates County Ground. This will be followed by a Q&A with a local sports personality.

The 2023 speaker list will be announced in mid-January.
