Somerset CCC mourn the passing of David Gabbitass

Somerset County Cricket Club is mourning the loss of David Gabbitass, a stalwart Member and former Vice Chair of the Club, who sadly passed away on January 19th, 2024 at the age of 88.

A solicitor by profession, David was a senior partner at Wolferstans in Plymouth for almost 30 years.

He joined the Devon and Cornwall Area Committee of Somerset CCC, and then moved onto the Club’s main Committee in 1990 where he served, as well as being a member of the Management Committee, until 2017.

David was Vice Chair of Somerset CCC from 2005 until 2017 and proved himself to be a valuable member of the Committee.

In recognition of his service to Somerset CCC he was made and Honorary Life Member in 2010.

David was also a well-respected member of the ECB Disciplinary Committee for many years.

Away from cricket, his other interests included rugby union and he was a past President of Plymouth Albion RFC.

The funeral will be held at Emmanuel Church, Plymouth on February 13th at 11am.
