Somerset CCC and King’s College continuing to build for the future
Somerset County Cricket Club can today announce that our important relationship with King’s College, Taunton will continue in 2026.
One of the region’s most highly regarded education providers, King’s College is also a designated Centre of Cricketing Excellence and has produced a number of Somerset players over the years including Jos Buttler, Tom Banton, Will Smeed, James Rew, Thomas Rew, Eddie Byrom, Alex Barrow, Craig Meschede, James Regan, Nathan Gilchrist, George Thomas and Erin Vukusic.
Supporting future generations to achieve their goals
As part of the partnership agreement, the two organisations will continue to collaborate closely on a range of initiatives that support both pupils and players, with Somerset CCC also contributing to enhanced sports careers guidance for King’s pupils
The Cooper Associates County Ground recently played host to King’s College’s Careers in Sport Morning which gives students the opportunity to learn about the variety of careers that are available within the sports industry, from coaching and physiotherapy to marketing and sports development. A number of similar events are set to take place throughout the year to help pupils fulfil their dreams within the world of sport.
2026 will once again see King’s College sponsor their former students Erin Vukusic, Tom Banton and James Rew.
Regarding the extension of this long-standing and mutually beneficial partnership, Somerset CCC Commercial Director, Caroline Herbert said: “Both organisations remain committed to identifying, nurturing and developing the very best talented young people throughout the South West, both on and off the field.
