
Second XI County Championship: Somerset beat Northants
DAY THREE
Northamptonshire resumed on 185 for eight on the third day of this Second XI County Championship fixture, leading by 56 runs.
JT Langridge quickly wrapped up the visitor’s innings as Northants were all out for 194, setting Somerset a victory target of 66.
Somerset recovered from the early loss of Bertie Michael as Archie Vaughan (33*) and Josh Thomas (24*) saw their side over the line and the victory by nine wickets.
DAY TWO
Somerset resumed on 186 for five on the second day of this Second XI County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Taunton Vale Sports Club, trailing by 34 runs.
Alfie Ogborne top scored with 71 not out as the hosts were dismissed for 349, a lead of 129.
By the close of play, Northamptonshire had reached 185 for eight, a lead of 56.
DAY ONE
Somerset take on Northamptonshire at Taunton Vale Sports Club in the Second XI County Championship this week.
Somerset won the toss and elected to bowl.
Jack Bates and Stuart van der Merwe (16) shared an opening stand of 33 before the latter was bowled by a beauty from Kian Roberts.
Roberts then claimed his second scalp when he took a simple return catch off his own bowling to remove Aadi Sharma (13) at 55 for two.
Bates and Rob Keogh shared a stand of 79 for the third wicket before the Northants opener was caught by Andy Umeed off the bowling of Jack Leach for 55, his half century coming from 68 balls.
By lunch, the score had progressed to 140 for three.
After the interval, Keogh reached his 50 from 65 balls but George Bartlett was caught by Oscar Coleman off the bowling of JT Langridge for 10 at 160 for four.
Keogh went on to make 69 before he was dismissed by Alfie Ogborne courtesy of catch from Roberts with the score on 181.
Aruch Buchake and Freddie Heldreich shared a sixth wicket stand of 30 but the final four wickets fell cheaply as the visitors slipped to 220 all out. Ogborne was the pick of the bowlers, claiming four for 40.
Somerset openers Archie Vaughan and Bertie Michael took Somerset to 45 before the former fell for 33.
By tea the home side had reached 54 without further loss.
Michael and Josh Thomas shared a stand of 48 until the opener departed for 44 but Andy Umeed and Thomas both fell caught behind to leave Somerset on 123 for four.
By the close of play, the hosts had advanced to 186 for five, trailing by 34.
