Second XI County Championship: Durham v Somerset – Day Four
Somerset take on Durham at Gateshead Fell CC in the Second XI County Championship this week.
DAY FOUR
Durham resumed on 18 without loss in their second innings, a lead of 96.
By the time the lunch interval arrived, the score had advanced to 168 for two, a lead of 246.
Durham declared on 241 for five, setting Somerset a target of 320.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore (54*) and Will Smeed (64) made half centuries but with the score on 176 for four the players shook hands and the match ended in a draw.
DAY THREE
Somerset resumed on 31 for four, trailing by 376.
By lunch, Will Tripcony and Sam Price had taken their side to 137 without further loss and their partnership was worth 112.
Tripcony’s 50 came from 96 balls.
The partnership was worth 142 when Price fell for 47 at 167 for five.
Tripcony was eventually dismissed for 97 from 172 balls with the score on 179.
Oscar Coleman went to 50 from 62 deliveries and by tea the score had advanced to 277 for six.
The partnership for the seventh wicket between Coleman and Zach Vukusic was worth 108 before the latter fell for 28 at 287 for seven.
Coleman went on to make 94 as Somerset were dismissed for 329, trailing by 78.
At the close of play, Durham had reached 18 without loss in their second innings, a lead of 96.
DAY TWO
Durham resumed on 336 for eight.
Rain brought a halt to proceedings shortly after 11:15 with the scoreboard displaying 407 for eight.
The hosts declared during the weather break and after the players got back out at 2:45 Somerset slipped to three for one before the rain began to fall again.
The weather continued to interrupt play, and when the game was finally halted for the final time today Somerset had moved to 31 for four, trailing by 376.
DAY ONE
Somerset won the toss and elected to bowl.
David Christie and Haydon Mustard shared an opening stand of 52 before the former was trapped lbw by Jack Blackwell for 29.
The Durham 100 arrived after 24 overs, but with the score on 112 James Twiddy (17) was caught by Zach Vukusic off the bowling of James Theedom. The partnership was worth 60.
At lunch the score had advanced to 126 for two with Mustard unbeaten on 68.
Vukusic accounted for Robbie Bowman (19) at 145 for three, but the Durham 200 was displayed on the scoreboard in the 41st over.
Mustard went to three figures from 110 balls but he was caught by Tom Kohler-Cadmore off the bowling of Thomas Watson without addition to his score.
By tea the score had advanced to 314 for seven.
Bad light eventually brought play to an early close with the scoreboard showing 366 for eight.
