Second XI Championship: Yorkshire v Somerset – Day Four
DAY FOUR
Play got underway at 11:30 today with Somerset declaring their first innings on 19 without loss.
The hosts had reached 25 without loss in their second innings when the rain began to fall.
Unfortunately, no further play was possible.
DAY THREE
No play was possible on day three of this Second XI County Championship match at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
DAY TWO
Yesterday’s poor weather meant that there was no play before lunch at Taunton Vale today.
When play finally got underway, Yorkshire resumed on 180 for two and Noah Kelly and Harry Duke took their partnership to 188 before the former was caught by Theo Lamey off the bowling of Harvey Richards for 109 from 189 balls at 242 for three.
Richards then trapped Yash Vagadia (0) lbw for the addition of just four further runs to the total.
By the time that the players left the field for tea the score had advanced to 350 for four with Duke not out on 144.
Duke eventually fell for 174, his partnership with Owen Smith (66) worth 152.
The visitors eventually declared on 465 for nine.
By the close of play, Somerset had reached 19 without loss in reply.
DAY ONE
Somerset take on Yorkshire in the Second XI County Championship at Taunton Vale Sports Club this week.
Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat.
James Theedom made an early breakthrough when he trapped Will Luxton lbw with just 19 on the board.
Noah Kelly and Jawad Akhtar took the visitors past 50 but the latter fell lbw to Zack Vukusic at 54 for two.
Kelly and Harry Duke took Yorkshire to lunch on 117 without further loss.
The third wicket pair continued to amass runs and when a thunder storm sent the players to the safety of the pavilion the scoreboard was showing 180 for two.
Unfortunately, the severity of the storm meant that no further play was possible.
