SCCC and GreenThumb Announce Partnership That Takes Cricket Back to its Roots

Somerset County Cricket Club have signed a new commercial partnership with GreenThumb.

The collaboration will see the UK’s leading lawn care provider become the Club’s Official Lawn Care Partner and their branding will be displayed on the sleeve of this year’s Vitality Blast shirts.

A love of cricket is often nurtured and grown on makeshift pitches on the lawn. This early grassroot’s experience is where many young cricketers develop their passion for the sport, and this partnership between Somerset County Cricket Club and GreenThumb will help to bring this experience to homes across the region.

GreenThumb was established in North Wales nearly 40 years ago and since then they’ve grown to have more than 220 branches across the UK.

Not content with being the first Lawn Treatment Service in the UK, they continue to pioneer the very best there is in every aspect of Lawn Care, leading the way in the industry.

Their treatment programmes are expertly calculated and applied in person to provide your lawn with the exact nutrients it needs at that time. Over the course of the year, they provide continuous guidance to their customers so that your lawn can reach its true potential as the centrepiece of your garden. Their flexible approach to lawn treatment also results in a bespoke service for every lawn, every time.

In response to the new partnership, Somerset CCC Commercial Director, Caroline Herbert said: “It’s always exciting when we launch a new Commercial Partnership, and we are looking forward to working with GreenThumb. Hopefully, with their support, we can become the first team to retain the Blast trophy.

“With branches based across the County, they understand the importance of sport to the future prosperity of the region as a whole. We all begin our sporting journeys in our back gardens, and this is why the two organisations are so well suited.

“The South West is a region that is blessed with many beautiful and iconic cricket grounds, and GreenThumb work to help you create something akin to that at home.”

David and Claire Sargent who run the local GreenThumb branch shared: “We’re thrilled to be involved with SCCC and hope we tend the lawns of a future Garner, Richards, Botham or Shrubsole.”

Sam Forsyth, owner operator of the Bristol and Gloucester GreenThumb branches, added: “Gloucestershire might be county rivals but our involvement, alongside David and Claire, speaks to the importance of cricket for the communities we serve.”

“We look forward to working closely with Somerset County Cricket Club to inspire positive change and get more people involved with grassroots cricket” added Paul Edwards, Managing Director at GreenThumb. “We also can’t wait to see the GreenThumb logo in action on the field. Hopefully, Somerset will take home that all important trophy for the second year running.”
