VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Ahead of the game, Somerset Pathway Coach & Women and Girls Lead, Kieran Peters said: “It doesn’t get much better than a local derby against Gloucestershire at the Cooper Associates County Ground. It’s a really exciting occasion for everyone involved. It’s something that provides a heck of a lot of motivation and all the players are excited by the opportunity to walk out onto that field and represent Somerset. It’s something that everyone takes enormous pride in.

“Although it’s a derby, we will prepare the normal way. We’re clear on how we want to play our cricket and the girls will just go out there an execute their skills to the best of their ability.

“The Somerset Under 18 Girls have qualified for a national knock out semi final which clashes with this fixture, so we will be missing a few players. However, that creates an opportunity for others to come in and fulfil roles within the squad. We had a similar situation recently against Oxfordshire, and the players who came in performed really well and helped take the game right down to the wire. We also saw the more experienced players step up and evidence their quality.”

NEXT MATCH

Somerset Women are next in action on Sunday July 28th when we take on both Cornwall and Wiltshire in T20 matches at Wadebridge CC.
