Paul Tweddle named in Scotland World Cup coaching team

Somerset County Cricket Club’s Assistant & Fielding Coach, Paul Tweddle is heading to the World Cup.

Paul has been called into the Scotland Coaching Staff ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which begins in February on a short term secondment.

After accepting the role, Paul, who has previously worked with England Lions, said: “Obviously, I was delighted to get the call from Cricket Scotland and it’s really pleasing to be going to the World Cup. I’ve put a lot of work into my coaching journey so far, so to be rewarded with an experience like this is special.

“In cricket, there’s no bigger place to be than at a World Cup. You can’t fail to learn and improve in an environment like that. It makes me feel very proud to have been given this opportunity.”

Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr added: “Paul is an outstanding coach who is held in extremely high regard within the game. He has exceptional knowledge and a deep understanding of what it takes for players to perform at their absolute maximum.

“His innovative and meticulous approach has undoubtedly been a key factor in our recent successes, and he thoroughly deserves the opportunity to work on the biggest stage.”
