Pathway Update
A number of the Somerset Pathway teams have played matches over the last few days during which there have once again been some outstanding individual performances.
Jay Terry, who is an 18-year-old left-handed batter on the Academy, scored 101 for the Somerset Player Pathway Development Squad on Tuesday in their match against the Cricket Asylum, who are based in Sowerby Bridge.
In the match at Taunton Vale, the visitors batted first and scored 221 all out in 40 overs, Alfie Moloney taking four for 56 while Lachlan Rice claimed three for 50.
In reply, the hosts made 225 for three in 28.3 overs, Terry retiring on 101 which he scored off 68 balls with 16 fours while Rice ended unbeaten on 38 from 17 deliveries.
For the Under 16s, James Matravers hit 86 against Dorset on Sunday. In the match, which was played at Wimborne CC, the visitors posted 274 for eight in their 50 overs. Matravers made his runs off 98 balls with five fours and two sixes, adding 114 for the third wicket with Finn Kelsey who made 53 off 67, while Dexter Trego hit 39 off 29.
Dorset were then bowled out for 140 in 40.3 overs, William Goymer taking two for 20 and Jamie Ogborne two for 21.
The Boys Under 12s played four T20 matches against their Cornwall counterparts on Sunday, involving two different sides from each.
In the first game, after being put in, Somerset made 123 for seven of which Theo Jones hit 25 and Jamie Glover 21. They then limited Cornwall to 100 for five, Harry Bird taking two for 10.
In the second match, Somerset batted first and scored 162 for two, of which Bertie Billson top scored with 43 off 41 balls.Cornwall were restricted to 76 for five in reply.
In the next match Somerset chose to bat and scored 114 for nine. William Blackmore made 24, Jack Holloway 19 and Joel Gardiner 21. In reply Cornwall reached 115 for nine in the 20th over, five of the wickets being run outs.
In the fourth game, after being put into bat, Cornwall reached 99 for eight from their overs. Byron Harmer claimed two for 20 and Matthew Kirwan two for 21.
Somerset reached 100 for three in 10.3 overs, Reuben Lewis-Jones making 46 and Theo Jones 34.
Somerset Girls Under 13s travelled to Potterne to play two T20 matches against Wiltshire.
In the opening game, Wiltshire were bowled out for 73 in 17 overs, with Emily Dummett claiming three for nine. In reply, Somerset reached 77 for three in 12.3 overs thanks to an unbeaten 42 from Megan Driskel which came off 43 deliveries and included seven fours.
The second game saw Somerset batting first and posting 106 for six. Matilda Parfitt made 24 and Erin Davidson 21. In reply Wiltshire reached 107 for two in 17.1 overs.
