Open Letter from the SCCC Member Directors

Hello Members

We undertook a Member forum and supporter survey at the end of the season to get your feedback on how it feels to be part of Somerset County Cricket club, any issues that you face and how the Club should approach the future.

Your honest feedback really helps us understand what we’re doing well and how we can make the Club better for everyone.

A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts.

We had about 900 responses and overall, the experience rating was 4.1 out of 5 (1=very bad and 5=very good) indicating a good level of satisfaction.

There were a number of areas that could be improved and these can be grouped into the following areas:

  • PA system (this was by far the biggest issue)
  • Availability and cleanliness of toilets
  • Venue (looking tired in places and in need of maintenance)
  • Better signage of and availability of water refill points
  • Queueing (Primarily for food and drink in short form games but also access/exit of ground)
  • Food (lack of healthy options, value for money)
  • Members Area (lack of a Member’s bar/unclear where food & beverage discount applies)
  • Stewarding – in particular movement between overs
  • Communication – (Website, better signposted Member forums, more info on player availability)

We are taking forward these issues with the Executive Team and will aim to update you of progress on a regular basis throughout 2026.

We also had valuable feedback on a number of areas that are important but outside the direct control of the Club, such as The Hundred/increasing the teams to include a South West franchise, better scheduling of fixtures across the summer, structure of the County Championship.

These views will help the Club in ongoing discussions with the ECB about the shape of County Cricket.

Finally, we had over 200 participants feel they have skills/experience/ideas that could help the Club grow and we will be in contact in the close season to understand how best to utilise this offer to help.

Thank you again for your fantastic feedback and continued support.

If you have more ideas or want to give more specific feedback, please don’t hesitate to get in touch (email in the Members Bulletin section on the website, or in person).

Here’s to a great season in 2026.
